Let’s Party Elephants – Alison Markham

Let’s Party Elephants.

For my blog post this month I wanted to use some of the stamp sets that you might have bought from Hochanda’s Mama Makes sale show on Christmas Eve.

First I cut a piece of white watercolour card to 14cm square. I sprayed this lightly with water. Using my Altenew Crisp Dye ink pads (colours listed below) I put 6 dabs of ink on my glass mat and lightly misted with water. I placed my piece of card face down on this wet ink and rubbed lightly.

I left this to dry whilst I stamped two of the elephants from the Elephant Birthday stamp set using Versafine Smokey Grey ink. I coloured them with my prismacolor pencils and blending solution. Why use a blending solution? Check out the difference in the two photos below. I then cut them out leaving a small border.

When the background was dry I added some mixed media style details using selected stamps and icons from the Funky Borders, Hexagon Heaven, Star Shine, and the mixed media small script stamp sets. I used four of the inks I had used to create the background for this.

I stamped one of the sentiments from the Star Shine stamp set and one of the Fancy Phrases using Versafine Smokey Grey ink.

I then matted the background onto a piece of black card that was 14.5cm square and then stuck this to a 7 inch square card blank. I then used double sided foam pads to adhere the Elephant to the card.
